Our Journey and Vision
The Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays (NIFOAP) has been at Newmarket’s Old Town Hall Auditorium since 2017, but did you know that its producers, The Very Useful Theatre Company, have been creating stage opportunities in Newmarket since 1993.
The first one-act plays took place at Pickering College.
Today, the festival attracts entries from around the globe. Long before the hall’s renovation, V.U.T.C. founders, including Ross Bayley and John Dowson, initiated Theatre on Main, where dinner and live theatre went hand in hand.
Residents enjoyed numerous productions, fostering talents like Jason Mills, now a Wine on Main owner, while John Dowson remains active on the board.
Come to Main Street and have dinner, then catch one of our shows!
