The venerable Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays – which has taken a hiatus in 2020 due to Covid-19 — is moving forward quickly in other areas to engage not only the theatre community, but people of all ages in Newmarket and our international following.

First off, the Very Useful Theatre Company, the producer of the Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays is absolutely thrilled to launch its new interactive website. Please check out this informative website at: https://dev.oneactplayfestival.com/

Darryl Erentzen, with almost 30 years’ experience as a Web Developer, has created this new website that not only promotes the VUTC and Festival of One Act Plays, but advertises many of the Town of Newmarket features, such as the historic Downtown Core, the many fabulous dining establishments and of course, the newly-refurbished Old Town Hall, where the Festival takes place each year.

Erentzen, who lives and works in Newmarket, made VUTC aware of an Ad Grants program from Google International and the VUTC received approval for this grant for eligible non-profit groups. It offers advertising for free on the World Wide Web.

Erentzen met with the VUTC Board on a number of occasions to get this new website just right. He is a proud alumnus of Sacred Heart Catholic High School and has a home business designing websites. Check out his web site at: https://erentzen.com.

The Google Ad Grant will raise awareness of the VUTC’s Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays, The Town of Newmarket Ontario Canada and Newmarket’ s historic Main street. The areas that the festival web is focused on are:

Video Contest

If this isn’t enough, the VUTC and its new website are launching ‘The interactive One Minute Video Contest’ to all ages who would like a chance to flaunt their talents on the World Wide Web!

The VUTC and Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays are looking to attract a roster of talent to our site. Participants will not only have an opportunity to participate in a growing and vibrant community of performers via our online forums but will also be first in line for auditions for live performances.

The rules are simple:
Join our site by clicking on: Join Post a video of no less than 10 seconds and no longer than 1 minute as a link in the “video contest” section in the Forum. YouTube links are preferable. We will not be hosting the videos so you need to have them on a service that makes them accessible.

Follow our page on Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/newmarketinternationalfestivalofoneactplays/
When you see your video show up on our Facebook page, get everyone you know to go to it and like your video on Facebook. If you’re under 18, make sure you have your parents’ permission to participate. There will be a slight delay before entries are posted to our Facebook page, because we have to preview every video to ensure they’re not in violation of Facebook’s policies, but legitimate entries should show up quickly.

Only the names of participants and their videos will be publicized, except where unavoidable due to the user’s settings on Facebook, YouTube, or wherever the videos are hosted. Winners will be announced on 2020/8/14. There are no official judges. The top three winners will be chosen based on the number of likes their videos receive on our Facebook page. Winners will be featured on our Website and Facebook page in a “sticky” post. They will also receive a certificate of congratulations to commemorate their win. With permission, winners will also be featured in Press Releases to local media.
